Chapter Three

“Stop it! Let him go!” I lunged as Pearl did, both of us yelling and charging our way through the men who were snarling and snapping at each other.

Where Pearl grabbed Llyr and pulled him back, however, I lunged myself between them, hands outstretched in preparation to take whatever blow was coming.

The two men were doing little more than snarling and snapping at each other now, albeit Caspian looked far more terrifying than his counterpart. Even with all his wit and muscle I don’t think my brother could look as ominous as the snapping points of Caspian’s teeth, the sharp claws at the end of his webbed hands, or the long twist of poisonous tail that was already snapping to wind around me.

I was frozen, it had been so long in the above with the handsome faced Siren that I had almost forgotten what he really looked like. No wonder I had almost slept with him. I had clearly forgotten how much of a monster he was.

The only downside of our time in the Above, I wasn’t afraid of him anymore.

“Stop, Caspian,” I snapped, flicking myself away from his tail as he tried to wrap it around me again.

Caspian was already trying to pull me back so he could lunge at my brother, who was trying get away from Pearl to do the same.

“Seriously! Stop it!” I yelled again, avoiding Caspian again, who finally gave up trying to restrain me and just went after Llyr.

His tail flicked, he rushed forward, and I rushed forward to block him. Damn it all, I had forgotten how fast Siren’s were.

The guy had pried Llyr away from the gasping Pearl with one quick motion, his tail whipping against her face and leaving a bright red gash behind.

I’d have to thank him for that later, when I calmed him down and convinced him to stop acting like a douchebag.

How I was going to tell a douchebag not to be a douchebag, I had no clue.

So, I did what anyone would do, I resorted to more yelling.

“You fucking idiot! Drop him! He’s on our side!” I swam around to face Caspian, who now had his long tail wrapped around my brother, the tip against his mouth, digging a line into his jaw.

“Our side?” Caspian laughed once and dug the tip of his tail into Llyr’s cheek again. My brother winced and fought again, clearly thinking his life was in danger. “They tied you up simply because you were around me. Your brother tied you up Zan.”

Okay, he had a point, and I scowled at him because of it.

“They didn’t know…” I begged, even though I was starting to question why I was second guessing him. “They thought I was working with you, with those Siren’s in the school.”

I quickly tacked on that last part to clarify when his eyes grew dark.

“And if they didn’t know the difference, if they didn’t know that my family were not the ones stealing Mer, what do you think they
